‘Utsarg Utsav’: Virtual awareness programme on voluntary blood donation on 15 August

Aug. 14: A virtual awareness programme to provide information and guidance on the vital role of voluntary blood donors in assuring the availability of stable and sufficient supplies of safe blood for transfusion has been organised to commemorate the 75th Independence Day on 15 August, 2021.

The awareness programme is a part of a series of interlinking strategies and suggestions for concrete action at community levels to scale up voluntary blood donation with heightened commitment and support for creating an enabling environment for 100 percent voluntary non-remunerated blood donation as per National Blood Policy.

As such, in order to foster a culture of voluntary blood donation and for building and maintaining a safe , sustainable voluntary donor base, the virtual awareness programme (EDUTAINMENT) in the name and style of ‘Utsarg Utsav’ has been organised. This online programme will begin at 10 AM on 15 August, 2021. This virtual awareness programme will comprise of participants from a plethora of educational institutions. The technical support for the same will be provided by Blood Bank, Silchar Medical College & Hospital.

The organisers further made an appeal to donate one unit of blood in the nearest Blood bank to celebrate this Independence Day as ‘Utsarg Utsav’.
