Tokyo Olympics: Mirabai Chanu wins silver for India in weightlifting

July 24: India opened its account in the Olympics 2020 with a shining silver medal. Mirabai Chanu created history by clinching India’s first silver medal in weightlifting in Olympics’ history. Chanu won the medal in the 49kg category. China’s Hou Zhihui clinched the gold medal in the event, while the bronze medal was won by Indonesia. This was Chanu’s second appearance at Olympics. In the Rio edition in 2016, she had failed to leave an impression.
