Barak Valley registers 109 Covid +ve cases on Friday, 126 discharged & 1 death at SMCH
There are 833 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
July 9: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. However, on Friday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased again. A total of 109 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 126 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 833 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Thursday, Barak Valley registered 98 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Friday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 57 positive cases (It was 73 on Thursday)
- Karimganj: 35 positive cases (It was 13 on Thursday)
- Hailakandi: 17 positive cases (It was 12 on Thuresday)
A total of 57 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Friday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 2,282 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 38 persons were found positive, whereas 19 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,107, whereas during this phase, 17,576 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 359. Also, 73 patients were discharged during the day. The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 8 July to 5 PM on 9 July) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Her detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening. The deceased from Cachar district was identified as:
- Champa Koiri (60) from Dholai in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 30 June. The patient, however, passed away at 5.30 PM on 8 July.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 9 July, there were 108 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 51 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 57 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 13 patients were put under ventilator support and 71 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 12 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 06 of them were discharged.
Hailakandi registered 17 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. Of the 17 positive cases detected on Thursday, 16 of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 01 person was detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 115 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 872 RAT tests and 150 RT-PCR tests were done. 08 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,604 (both 1st & 2nd wave).
As of now, a total of 4,067 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 12 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Thursday. Till date 47 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered only 35 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday. The district has currently 359 active COVID-19 cases, while 45 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Friday. 3,297 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 13 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Thursday.
On Friday, out of 1,17,087 tests, 2,493 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,29,693. The positivity rate in the state is 2.13 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 247 positive cases during the day. Further, on Friday, 24 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,788. The recovery rate is 94.75 percent. On Friday, 2,481 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 5,01,869 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 21,689 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 24 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 24 deceased, 03 each in Dibrugarh & Kamrup Metro; 02 each in Goalpara, Sonitpur, Karbi Anglong & Tinsukia; 01 each in Barpeta, Biswanath, Cachar, Dima Hasao, Hojai, Kokhrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,788.
