9 year girl from Silchar found at Karimganj Railway Station, mother gets information & brings her back

September 10: In a shocking incident, a 9 year old girl Renuka Begum was suddenly noticed by people standing on the railway tracks near Karimganj Railway Station on last Sunday. They became a bit suspicious and handed over the girl to Karimganj Police. The girl claimed to be a resident of Ghaniala, Silchar. Immediately, Karimganj Police informed their counterpart at Silchar.

The photograph of the girl sitting at Karimganj Railway Station along with 2 policemen also became viral in social media. Finally, her mother who works in a private nursing home at Silchar was informed by one of her colleagues that he has seen her daughter in social media who was in the custody of Karimganj police. The lady at once rushed to Karimganj on Monday. Karimganj police handed over the girl to her mother.

Later on speaking to way2barak, Renuka Begum’s mother said, “I took my daughter to the house of my brother at Karimganj on Sunday. My brother expired some years ago and I kept my daughter with the wife of my deceased brother. I wanted her to stay there and study in Karimganj. But on that very day, when my brother’s wife and their children were having lunch, Renuka escaped from their house and came to Karimganj Railway Station. There people noticed her and took her to police station.”

She further told that her daughter felt home sick and so she ran away from there and came to the railway station with the intention of coming back to Silchar. They are actually inhabitants of Tripura but stays now in a rented house at Ghaniala, Silchar and works in a private nursing home.

Meanwhile, a person Sajal Roy from Karimganj has claimed to way2barak that he was at the spot and it was he who first sighted the girl at the Karimganj Railway Station. In his comment in way2barak, Sajal Roy claimed, “I was waiting at Karimganj Railway Station for my friend Debasish Goswami who was coming from Silchar in the evening train. Suddenly a small girl came to me and asked whether this train will go to Silchar. On enquiry, I learnt that she is from Silchar. Her father who worked in coal mine expired. Her mother has kidney stone and is now in hospital. Apart from her mother there is none at home. It was then that I took her with me for handing over the girl to RPF. Just then people started to gather around there and I narrated them the incident. At RPF, office a huge crowd gathered and then I left the place.”
