8 new corona cases detected; tally rises to 3,189 in Hailakandi

Oct.8: 8 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Thursday, taking the total tally to 3,189. Health authorities here disclosed that of the 8 positive cases, 7 have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while one under RT-PCR. Altogether 604 swab samples were taken on Thursday out of which 92 are under RT-PCR and 512 under RAT.

Altogether 1,852 cases have been found positive under RAT with over 50 per cent without travel history. 3,009 persons on being cured have been released from hospitals. The number of active cases is 161. Eight COVID-19 positive patients have breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. 11 deaths at SMC&H have been declared as ‘non-COVID’ by the State level Death Audit Board.

88 COVID-19 asymptomatic persons are under home isolation. Of the 26,706 RT-PCR samples taken, 24,227 have tested negative. Swab results of 262 persons are awaited. Altogether 87,607 swab samples were taken out of which 26,798 are under RT-PCR and 60,809 under RAT.
