76 tests positive in Cachar on Saturday, 1 more dies at SMCH
Sept. 19: On Saturday, the novel coronavirus cases again increased in Cachar district. A total of 76 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 64 were found positive, whereas 12 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,151 till now. It needs mention here that 78 persons were found positive in Cachar on Friday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday said that in the last 24 hours, 248 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 585 persons were collected. 346 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which,22 of them tested positive. Further, 133 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 13 were found positive.
Apart from this, 12 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 12 were discharged. At present, there are 147 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 24 patients are now in critical condition. Another 31 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 129 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 242 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 person from Cachar district have died at SMCH. As of now, there were 138 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 138 deaths, 57 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
