75th Independence Day: Celebrations to be held at DSA, Silchar

Aug 4: A preparatory meeting in connection with 75th Independence Day celebration was held at the conference hall of the Deputy commissioner’s office here on Wednesday. The meeting was presided over by District Development Commissioner, Cachar, Rajib Roy.

At the outset of the meeting. DDC Cachar, Rajib Roy reviewed the progress made in implementing the programme of 75th Independence Day on 15 August, 2021 by maintaining COVID protocol. In this connection, Rajib Roy instructed the officials concerned to complete all preparatory work two days prior to the ceremony.

After a threadbare discussion, it was unanimously decided that the venue for the ceremonial flag hoisting of 75th Independence Day, 2021 will be DSA, Silchar.  It was informed in the meeting that relay of patriotic songs will be done from 5.30 AM to 6.30 PM through F.L.S of Regional Office of Information & Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone office. At 7 AM the National Flag will be hoisted at private residences and establishments by all citizens. The hoisting of National flag at all government office buildings and educational institutions will be held at 7.45 AM following the rendering of National Anthem.

At 8.35 AM floral tribute to the Father of the Nation will take place at Gandhi Bagh, followed by Sahid Tarpan at Gandhi Bagh at 8.45 AM. At 8.55 AM, reception of VIPs at DSA ground. The ceremonial hoisting of National Flag at DSA ground at 9 AM by VVIP following a combined parade by CRPF,police personnel, 6th AP BN, Home Guards and NCC scouts and guides. At 10 AM, doctors, health workers and sanitisation members will be felicitated. At 6 PM illumination of statues/ rotary of different parts of Silchar town as well as government buildings and private residences will take place.

It was also informed that a vaccination drive will be conducted in connection with Independence Day celebration on 12 and 13 August which will be organised by Joint Director of Health, Cachar.

During the meeting, discussion was also held to organise an essay competition in digital platform avoiding congregation, where all school students will participate. Inspector of Schools and DEEO Cachar were asked to organise the same.

DDC Rajib Roy stated that ,the functions and other activities are to be organised at the respective development blocks and therefore ,joint programmes by all development departments to be chalked out at each block and requested all departments to extend their sincere cooperation to make the programme on celebration of 75th Independence Day, 2021 a grand success. All BDOs of the district were directed to coordinate the programme. The Joint Director of Health was also asked to arrange proper sanitisation at the two entry gates of DSA.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dipak Jidung, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kamal Baruah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sadhan Sarkar, Assistant Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh, Election Officer, Cachar, Nabanita Hazarika.
