7,266 persons given online Learner’s License within a week of its launch in Assam

390 from Cachar, 376 from Karimganj and 251 from Hailakandi got Learner's License sitting at home

Sept 11: In a bid to make the services of Transport Department more transparent and people friendly, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma launched contactless online Learner License Facility from Home and mVahan with Fitness Everywhere App. Within a week of its launch, the online process of applying for Learner’s License has achieved huge popularity. At present, a total of 7,226 persons have got their Learner’s Licenses through online process, out of which, 390 are from Cachar, 376 from Karimganj and 251 are from Hailakandi district.

Taking to his twitter handle, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday wrote, “I would like to share with great satisfaction that within one week of launch , 7226 people have got their Learner’s Licenses through online process sitting with comfort from their homes.This initiative has led a paradigm shift in service delivery in the governance.”

Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), with launching of Aadhar-based contactless online learner’s licence test from home facility, the applicants will be able to get their Learner’s License sitting for a test from home using an Aadhaar-based authentication mechanism without visiting DTO office. However, those who do not have Aadhaar, can avail the advantage of the present system till 31st March, 2022.

On the other hand, mVahan app, also created by the National Informatics Centre is an android mobile based application for issuing vehicle fitness certificate of registered Transport vehicles. This application makes the vehicle’s fitness testing process easy and convenient for public besides reducing time to get fitness certificate for vehicles.
