71 tests +ve in Cachar on Thursday; 4 deaths registered at SMCH
Sept. 10: On Thursday, the number of novel coronavirus patients came down drastically below 100 once again. 71 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar district. During the day, 63 were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas another 08 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Thurssday night. It needs mention here that 102 persons were found positive in Cachar on Wednesday. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 7563 till now.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Thursday said that in the last 24 hours, 194 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 523 persons were collected. 1272 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 49 of them tested positive. Further, 151 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 05 were found positive.
Apart from this, 23 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 17 were discharged. At present, there are 202 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 01 in ventilation. 28 patients are now in critical condition. Another 47 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 98 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 192 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 4 persons have died at SMCH, out of which 01 is from Cachar, 2 from Hailakandi and 01 from Dharmanagar. As of now, there were 124 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 124 deaths, 46 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
