70 tests positive in Cachar on Friday
Sept. 18: On Friday, the novel coronavirus cases again increased in Cachar district. A total of 70 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 1,110 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 62 were found positive, whereas only 08 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Friday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,051 till now. It needs mention here that 46 persons were found positive in Cachar on Thursday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Friday said that in the last 24 hours, 262 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 480 persons were collected. 466 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 18 of them tested positive. Further, 135 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 10 were found positive.
Apart from this, 15 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 07 were discharged. At present, there are 148 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 18 patients are now in critical condition. Another 24 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 129 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 242 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, no persons have died at SMCH. As of now, there were 137 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 137 deaths, 57 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
