7 new +cases in Hailakandi, day’s total 16

The district has a total of 18 containment zones.

July 8: 16 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been found in South Assam’s Hailakandi district, taking the tally to 381.

Health authorities here disclosed that Ranadip Kumar Dam, 49, Taposh Deb, 28, Rafijul Ali Barbhuiya, 52, Krishna Mohan Rudrapalli, 49, Jalaluddin Barbhuiya, 20, Rathindra Kr. Roy, 51, Bhumi Dhar Das, 53, Rustom Ali, 28, Uttam Singha Choudhury, 36, Mujakir Hussain Laskar 21, Joynal Uddin 22, Jiban Gogoi 30, Tayabur Rahman Laskar 22, Amir Hussain 32, Chiranjiv Das 55, and Chirantana Das, 21, have tested positive on Wednesday.

Among the persons infected, an official of the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner and two employees are from DC’s establishment, four CRPF personnel from Kuchila camp, three health personnel from Kalinagar BPHC, one from Rongpur Part 3, three under facility quarantine centre at Polytechnic Institute and two under home quarantine at Panchgram. The ADC’s peon and PSO have tested positive.

Four have been admitted at SK Roy COVID-19 Civil Hospital, one under home isolation, eight at Algapur Model Hospital and three at Dholai MG Model Hospital. All the cases are asymptomatic. Meanwhile, Fire & Emergency Services personnel have carried out sanitisation of the DC’s establishment. As soon as the positive cases were detected, the office closed down barring one or two branches on Wednesday afternoon and it will remain shut on Thursday.

Swab collection of the rest of the officials and employees of DC’s office will be taken. The swab results of Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal and his office staff, driver and PSOs have tested negative. Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

Of the 9,684 swab samples taken so far, 7,402 turned out to be negative. Swab results of 1,721 are awaited as per health bulletin released on Tuesday evening. 1,223 persons are under facility quarantine centres while 4,292 persons under home quarantine. 5,452 persons from outside the state have arrived here since May 13. The district has a total of 18 containment zones.
