67 tests +ve in Cachar on Saturday, 1 more dies at SMCH
Oct. 17: On Saturday, a total of 67 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 42 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 25 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,055. It needs mention here that 27 persons were found positive in Cachar on Friday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday said that in the last 24 hours, 198 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 709 persons were collected. 547 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 67 of them tested positive. Further, 349 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 09 were found positive.
Apart from this, 09 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 04 were discharged. At present, there are 50 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 12 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 14 patients are now in critical condition. Another 12patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 239 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 444 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 patient from Cachar district died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 163 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 163 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
