639 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Wednesday, 1,024 discharged & 15 deaths registered
There are 7,025 active Covid cases in Assam
Aug 18: On Wednesday, out of 83,282 tests, 639 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,82,037. The positivity rate in the state is 0.77 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 109 positive cases during the day. Further, on Wednesday, 15 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 5,528. The recovery rate is 97.61 percent.
It needs mention here that on Tuesday, 741 persons tested positive in Assam and 11 deaths were registered.
On Wednesday, 1,024 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 5,68,137 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. At present, there are 7,025 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 15 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 15 deceased, 02 each are from Barpeta, Jorhat, Lakhimpur & Sonitpur; 01 each from Biswanath, Golaghat, Hojai, Kamrup Rural, Morigaon, Nagaon & Tinsukia. The death tally of the state now stands at 5,528.
