6,258 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Tuesday, 4,409 patients discharged & 85 deaths registered

May 11: On Tuesday, out of 68,572 tests, 6,258 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. This is the highest single day spike in the number of Covid cases in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 3,04,429. The positivity rate in the state is 9.13 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 1,585 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 85 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. This is the highest single day death toll in Assam due to coronavirus. With this, the death toll in the state reached 1,838.

It needs mention here that on Monday, 5,803 persons tested positive in Assam and 77 deaths were registered.

On Tuesday, 4,409 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 2,61,980 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 86.06 percent.

Further, during the day, 85 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 85 deceased, 35 are from Kamrup Metro; 07 from Dibrugarh; 06 from Nagaon; 05 from Kamrup Rural; 04 each from Barpeta, Sivasagar & Sonitpur; 03 each from Jorhat & Tinsukia; 02 each from Cachar, Goalpara, Hailakandi & Nalbari; 01 each from Bongaigaon, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Golaghat, Hojai & Karbi Anglong. The death tally of the state now stands at 1,838.
