6 railway staff awarded for extraordinary performance

January 7: Six railway staff namely Mithlesh Hansda, Sr. Section Engineer / P-Way under Alipurduar Division, Sanjib Ghosh Roy, Sr. Section Engineer / Works under Alipurduar Division, Md. F. Rahman, Loco Pilot / New Bongaigaon under Rangiya Division, Rishi Pankaj Kumar, Track Maintainer / Sudhani under Katihar Division, Shri Sandeep Kumar, Constable / RPF / Bagdogra under Katihar Division and Dipak Dutta, Loco Pilot / New Bongaigaon, under Rangiya Division were awarded by Addl. General Manager, N.F. Railway for showing exceptional devotion towards duty.

Mithlesh Hansda, Sr. Section Engineer / P-Way and Shri Sanjib Ghosh Roy, Sr. Section Engineer / Works under Alipurduar Division showed exemplary courage in permanent closure of level crossing gate number SK-114 despite local resistance. Both of them with their team closed the gate by erecting rail post on both side on night of 02.11.18.

Md. F. Rahman, Loco Pilot / New Bongaigaon under Rangiya Division while working train 12346 Dn on 18th November observed one villager was shouting by taking out his shirt at KM 73/9-74/0 in between Amjonga – Dudhnoi. He immediately applied emergency brake and stop the train and noticed Rail fracture. He immediately informed the same to Station Master / Dhudnoi without clearing the fouling mark. For his alertness accident was averted.

Rishi Pankaj Kumar, Track Maintainer / Sudhani under Katihar Division, while performing duty as key man on 25^th November, detected “rail fracture” at KM 135/4-5 between Barsoi – Sudhani in up line. He immediately protected the track and informed all concerned and the on duty station master. For his alertness a probable accident was averted.

Sandeep Kumar, Constable / RPF / Bagdogra, while performing duty at Naksalbari station on 30^th November noticed one male passenger slipped down, hanged and entangled between coach and platform of train number 75743. He promptly pulled out the passenger and saved him. For his alertness life of a railway passenger was saved.

Dipak Dutta, Loco Pilot / New Bongaigaon, under Rangiya Division, while working by 55713 Up passenger train on 4^th December felt jerk at KM 300 / 1-2 between Barpeta Road – Sarupeta section. He immediately informed the Station Master of Sarupeta station without clearing the fouling mark. Sr. Section Engineer / P-Way / Barpeta Road attended the section and imposed speed restriction. For his alertness accident was averted.

In recognition of their meritorious service all of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs. 2, 500 each along with a certificate issued by the General Manager, N.F. Railway.
