1st death due to corona reported from Cachar
July 12: On Friday, a total of 6 persons were tested as COVID-19 positive. Out of the six fresh cases, one 85-year-old female was declared positive posthumously. The following persons from Cachar were declared positive on Sunday:
Arunabha Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Radhamadhab College, Silchar was tested coronavirus positive. A resident of Ambicapatty, Silchar, Arunabha Bhattacharjee came in in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case. His swab sample was collected on 8 July and the positive report came on 12 July. He is asymptomatic.
Speaking to way2barak, Arunabha Bhattacharjee informed that he came in contact with COVID-19 positive patient Rudra Narayan Gupta, Director of Green Heals Hospital as he went to his house to consult the physician of Mr. Gupta. However, when he got the information that Rudra Narayan Gupta tested positive, he gave his swab sample and since then isolated himself in a room at his Ambicapatty residence. He has already provided the list of persons who came in contact with him. He, however, disclosed that, apart from his family members, he did not come in contact with anybody else. He has been admitted in the COVID Ward set up at SM Dev Civil Hospital on 12 July and his condition is stable.
Another person, Dinesh Kumar (49) of Masimpur Army Camp in Cachar. He is an air passenger and came from Chandigarh. His swab sample was collected on 7 July. He is asymptomatic. Another army man, Santosh Yadav (34) also tested positive on Sunday. He is from 160 Military Station at Masimpur, Cachar. His swab sample was collected on 11 July as he exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI). He is symptomatic.
Purnima Singha (80) from Rajgaon, Cachar tested positive. She came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case. Her swab sample was collected on 8 July and the report came on 12 July. She is asymptomatic. Sandeep Kumar (29) of Dalcherra BSF in Cachar also tested positive. He too came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case. This BSF jawan is learnt to have been symptomatic.
Another person, 85 years old female Santi Nath from Narsingpur Pt-II who died on 10 July was posthumously diagnosed as COVID-19 positive. Her swab sample was collected on 10 July after her sudden death and the report came out on 12 July. She was an asymptomatic and was infected with coronavirus as she came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case. It needs mention here that on 9 July, three members of her family also tested positive. It is then that on the next day, 85-year-old Shantibala Nath expired.
