59 tests +ve in Cachar on Wednesday; 21 patients critical at SMCH

Oct. 7: On Wednesday, a total of 59 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day,1536 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 45 persons were found positive, whereas 14 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,530. It needs mention here that 73 persons were found positive in Cachar on Tuesday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday said that in the last 24 hours, 168 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 411 persons were collected. 488 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 15 of them tested positive. Further, 454 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 10 were found positive.

Apart from this, 16 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 11 were discharged. At present, there are 115 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 20 are admitted in ICU and 05 in ventilation. 21 patients are now in critical condition. Another 09 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 205 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 392 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 152 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 152 deaths, 61 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
