58 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Wednesday, 1 death at SMCH
June 30: A total of 58 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Wednesday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 2,356 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 56 were found positive, whereas 02 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR test. It needs mention here that 65 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Tuesday.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley for more than a month with a gap of two days in between. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 29 June to 5 PM on 30 June) witnessed demise of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as:
- Sanjay Mahaldar (74) from Second Link Road in Silchar, Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 29 June. He however, passed away at 5.30 AM on 30 June.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 30 June, there were 128 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 51 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 77 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 08 patients were put under ventilator support and 82 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 25 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 33 of them were discharged.
