June 20: A total of 58 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Sunday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 3,745 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 54 were found positive, whereas 04 tested positive RT-PCR test. This was informed by DIPRO Cachar on Sunday evening. It needs mention here that 172 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Saturday.
The data received at 6 PM on Sunday indicates a gradual decreasing trend of Covid-19 positive cases in the district. If the district is able to maintain this dip in number of cases, then probably, Cachar might be awarded more relaxations in the coming week.
It needs mention here that as the Covid-19 cases in atleast 5 to 6 districts of Assam are still not under control, there are chances that the state government might go for strict restrictions including complete lockdown for atleast 10 days. This was indicated by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while interacting with the media. He further added that the district-wise Covid situation will be discussed and analysed on 23 June. A decision in this connection will be taken only after the review of the Covid situation in the districts.
