5,657 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Wednesday, 3,880 patients discharged & 71 deaths registered
Active cases 40,970 in Assam
May 12: On Wednesday, out of 63,956 tests, 5,657 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 3,10,086. The positivity rate in the state is 8.85 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 1,456 positive cases during the day. Further, on Wednesday, 71 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 1,909.
It needs mention here that on Tuesday, 6,258 persons tested positive in Assam and 85 deaths were registered.
On Wednesday, 3,880 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 2,65,860 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 85.74 percent. At present, tere are 40,970 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 71 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 71 deceased, 26 are from Kamrup Metro; 07 from Kamrup Rural; 4 each from Barpeta, Darrang & Dibrugarh; 3 each from Nalbari, Sonitpur, Tinsukia & Karbianglong; 2 each from Karimganj, Bongaigaon & Golaghat; 1 each from Baksa, Cachar & Hailakandi. The death tally of the state now stands at 1,909.
