53 tests +ve in Cachar on Friday; 1 more dies at SMCH

Oct. 9: On Friday, a total of 62 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 44 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 09 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Friday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,645. It needs mention here that 62 persons were found positive in Cachar on Friday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Friday said that in the last 24 hours, 182 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 495 persons were collected. 546 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 09 of them tested positive. Further, 450 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 10 were found positive.

Apart from this, 19 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 13 were discharged. At present, there are 113 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 24 are admitted in ICU and 04 in ventilation. 24 patients are now in critical condition. Another 12 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 210 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 397 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 1 patient from Dharmanagar in Tripura died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 155 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 155 deaths, 62 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
