5 new corona cases detected; tally rises to 3,246 in Hailakandi

15 Oct : 5 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Thursday, taking the total tally to 3,246. Health authorities here disclosed that of the 5 positive cases, 4 have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Altogether 669 swab samples were taken on Thursday out of which 120 are under RT-PCR and 549 under RAT.

Altogether 1,906 cases have been found positive under RAT with over 50 per cent without travel history. 3,153 persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals.The number of active cases is 74. Eight COVID-19 positive patients have breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. 11 deaths at SMC&H have been declared as ‘non-COVID’ by the State level Death Audit Board. 44 COVID-19 asymptomatic persons are under home isolation.

Of the 27,839 RT-PCR samples taken, 25,096 have tested negative. Swab results of 452 persons are awaited. Altogether 96,425 swab samples were taken out of which 27,839 are under RT-PCR and 68,586 under RAT.
