5 colleges n Assam to be upgraded to Universities within 2 years: CM Assam
Nov. 20: A major revamp of the educational scenario in Assam is going to take place soon. Five colleges of the state will soon be upgraded to universities. These 5 colleges are: Sivasagar College, Nagaon College, Lakhimpur College, JB Law College and Handique Girls’ College. The colleges will be transformed to universities with the next two years. This was stated by state Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday during his address at the Northeast Education Conclave at GMCH auditorium.
During the programme, the Chief Minister mentioned in his speech that India will become more strong once the National Education Policy, 2020 is implemented n its truest stride. This, he said will give students the opportunity for self-development. It will create creative and innovative thinking among the students thereby furthering the development of the society and the nation. Dr Sarma further stated that the implementation of this policy will fulfill the dream of a new and strong India as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
