4th Covid vaccine Moderna gets approval for emergency use in India
June 29: Pharma Company Cipla has reportedly received Drugs Controller General of India’s (DCGI) nod to import Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine for restricted emergency use, becoming the 4th Covid-19 vaccine approved in India. “New drug permission has been granted to Moderna, the first internationally developed vaccine. This new drug permission is for restricted use,” said Dr. VK Paul, Member-Health, Niti Aayog.
As per reports, the company had submitted an application for the regulator’s approval on Monday. The vaccine has been shown to be around 94% effective against Covid-19. Moderna will be administered in two doses in India. India now has four vaccines now Covaxin, Covishield, SputnikV and Moderna. As per ANI, government will soon make an announcement as regards emergency use of Moderna in India.
