46 tests +ve in Cachar on Monday, 1 patient died at SMCH
Oct. 18: On Monday, a total of 46 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 2124 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 32 persons were found positive, whereas 14 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Monday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,122. It needs mention here that 21 persons were found positive in Cachar on Sunday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Monday said that in the last 24 hours, 190 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 373 persons were collected. 510 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 18 of them tested positive. Further, 573 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 24 were found positive.
Apart from this, 04 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 05 were discharged. At present, there are 47 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 17 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 03 patients are now in critical condition. Another 15 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 242 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 450 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 patient from Cachar district have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 163 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 163 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
