42 tests +ve in Cachar on Thursday, 12 patients critical at SMCH

Oct. 15: On Thursday, a total of 42 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 2179 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 37 persons were found positive, whereas 05 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Thursday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,952. It needs mention here that 63 persons were found positive in Cachar on Wednesday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Thursday said that in the last 24 hours, 192 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 734 persons were collected. 759 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 07 of them tested positive. Further, 421 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 04 were found positive.

Apart from this, 03 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 07 were discharged. At present, there are 69 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 13 are admitted in ICU and 01 in ventilation. 12 patients are now in critical condition. Another 07 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 231 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 426 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 161 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 161 deaths, 62 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
