First batch of 150 Hajj pilgrims from Assam left for Madina
July 4: 150 Hajj pilgrims from different parts of Assam left for Madina by Air India AI-5013 from Guwahati Airport on Thursday. This is the first batch of Hajj pilgrims from Assam who set out on their journey for Mecca. Sanjeev Jindal, RED- North East Region along with officials of Airport Authority of India gifted rose to the Hajis.
It needs mention here that more batches of the pilgrims are now being stationed at a temporary camp in Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, wherein security personnel will check the important documents required for the pilgrimage.
The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims, and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during their absence.
