4 Covid-19 patients of whom 2 below 40 years die at SMCH in last 24 hours
86 patients in ICU, 24 in ventilator support & 149 put under oxygen at SMCH
June 9: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 8 June to 5 PM on 9 June) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Of the 04 deceased, 02 are from Cachar district, while 01 each are from Karimganj and Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as:
- Monir Ahmed (59) from Silcoorie in Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 7 June. He, however, passed away at 8 PM on 8 June.
- Gopa Namasudra (38) from Karimganj took admission at SMCH at early morning (3.31 AM) on 9 June. She breathed her last just after a few hours at 8 AM on 9 June.
- Namor Ali (71) from Hailakandi got admitted at SMCH on 4 June. He expired at 11.30 AM on 9 June.
- Kabita Sarkar (30) from Harinagar in Cachar district was admitted in the morning on 9 June. She passed away at 4 PM on 9 June.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 9 June, there were 213 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 86 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 127 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 24 patients were put under ventilator support and 149 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 33 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 32 of them were discharged. Further, 19 of them have opted for home isolation.
