4 APS officers terminated for involvement in APSC cash-for-job-scam
November 30: Four Assam Police Service (APS) officers were terminated from their services through an order issued by the Assam government on Friday. They along with more than a dozen officers were earlier arrested and sent to jail on charges of being involved in Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam. The four of them were later on granted bail. Initially, they were suspended from their services. Finally, the state government took a bold decision and showed them the way out from the coveted jobs which they acquired by adopting unfair means.
As per reports, the four APS officers are BJP MP R.P. Sharma’s daughter Pallabi Sharma, Kabita Das, Gulshan Daulagupu and Bhargab Phukan.These officers have secured their jobs through unfair means during the tenure of R.K. Paul as APSC Chairman. The investigators had allegedly found discrepancies in their answer scripts, which were seized from the APSC office and sent for forensic test.
