3rd case of Black fungus reported in Assam

June 20: On Saturday, another patient of Black Fungus or Mucormycosis was detected in Assam. This was informed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while interacting with the media. He further added that diabetic patients if administered high dose of steroid results in Mucormycosis. He said, “We are spreading awareness among the masses in this regard and have also advised the doctors not to administer high doses of steroid to patients with high diabetes.”

The patient of Black Fungus is a resident of Lakhimpur, Assam and is currently undergoing treatment at the post-COVID ward of Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH).
