390 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6.30 PM on Saturday, 403 discharged & 10 deaths at SMCH
Active cases 3,194 in Cachar
May 28: A total of 390 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6.30 PM on Saturday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 7,236 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 384 were found positive, whereas 06 more was detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday evening. Also, 403 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that on Friday, 534 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar. At present, there are 3,194 active cases in Cachar district.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 28 May to 5 PM on 29 May) witnessed demise of 10 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 10 deceased, 09 are from Cachar district, while 01 of them is from Hailakandi.
The deceased were identified as Subhabrata Dutta Roy (65) from R.K.Mission road, Silchar, Birendra Lal Dey (60) from Durganagar Part-4 in Cachar, Radha Lohar (35) from Thailu Tea Estate in Cachar, Sudip Dutta (59) from Arun Chanda Road, Silchar, Sanabi Bibi (32) from Kaptanpur Part-18 in Cachar, Husnara Begum (55) from Dakshin Mohanpur Part-7 in Cachar, Arfan Ali Barbhuiya (78) from Saidpur Part-4 in Cachar, Mala Rani Roy (56) from Saidpur Part-2 in Cachar, Ala Uddin Mazumder (71) from Bhatirkupa Part-1 in Hailakandi district and Ranjit Kumar Bhattacharjee (72) from Kanakpur Part-2 in Cachar who was brought to SMCH on 29 May. Dr Bhaskar Gupta, however, said that the patient was brought dead at SMCH at 11.45 AM on 29 May. He too was positive.
