37 tests Covid positive in Cachar on Saturday, 58 discharged & 1 death at SMCH

There are 125 active cases in Cachar

Feb. 5: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually decreasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Saturday at 10.15 PM. As per the latest data, a total of 37 persons were found positive in the district on 5 February. Also, 58 patients were discharged (52 from home & 06 from hospital) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has gone down to 125, out of which, 100 are in home isolation whereas 25 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Friday, 16 persons were found positive in Cachar. The death toll in Cachar due to Covid has reached 32 this year.

As per the updated data, a total of 1,576 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 31 persons were found positive, whereas 06 were detected positive out of 317 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 6,352 whereas during this phase, 6,195 patients were discharged. There has been a gradual decline in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 4 February to 5 PM on 5 February) witnessed the death of 01 more Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as:

  • Moni Raj Nunia (48) from Fakirtilla in Cachar tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH on 30 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 6.30 PM on 4 January 2022. The patient was suffering from hepatic encephaopathy, gastro duodenal hemorrhage & CLD.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 5 February, there were 05 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, no patients were put under ventilator support, and 02 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 03 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 04 were discharged. A total of 04 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 03 in RTPCR on Saturday. Majority of them detected positive on Saturday opted for home isolation.
