35,800 meritorious students to get scooters; govt to provide financial assistance for registration & insurance
Monthly remuneration of Asstt Professors working for fixed pay in provincialised colleges hiked from Rs.5,000 to Rs, 55,000
way2barak, Oct.19: In the weekly Assam Cabinet on October 19, several key decisions related to distribution of scooters to meritorious students, increase in salary of Assistant Professors, a new hotel in Kaziranga and guidelines on issuance of caste certificates etc., among others were taken. The Cabinet Meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
KEY DECISIONS:
Scooters for Meritorious Students:
• Scooters for 29,748 girl students who secured 1st division and 6,052 boy students who secured 75% and above in HS Examination, 2022 to encourage students and ensure better HS results
• Total cost to be incurred: Rs. 258.9 crore
Financial aid for registration:
• Dept of Higher Education to provide financial assistance for registration and insurance to beneficiaries through nodal principals, as part of the proposal
Salary of Asstt. Professors Hiked:
• Monthly remuneration of Assistant Professors working for fixed pay in provincialised colleges hiked to Rs, 55,000 (fixed).
Guidelines on Issuing Caste Certificates:
• Guidelines on standard procedure for issuance of Hill Tribes in Plains and Plain Tribes in Hills certificates
• Caste certificates to be provided to eligible persons by DCs online, similar to SC/ST/ OBC/ MOBC. • Certificates under Mission Bhumiputra, to help them avail economic, educational and employment benefits of State Government
New Hotel in Kaziranga:
• To boost tourism, a hotel will be developed in Kaziranga by Saraf Hotel Enterprises (Hyatt Group of Hotels)
