332 persons test Covid-19 +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Wednesday, 5 deaths at SMCH

16 air passengers during the day were detected as Covid-19 positive

May 19: A total of 332 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Wednesday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 316 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 16 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday evening. It needs mention here that on Tuesday, 342 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.

During the day, 230 air passengers who arrived at Silchar Airport underwent Covid test at MG Model Hospital, Tikal. A total of 16 air passengers during the day were detected as Covid-19 positive.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 05 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 05 deceased at SMCH during the last 24 hours, 03 are from Cachar district and 02 are from Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as: Shiraj Uddin Choudhury (78) from Shahabad, Lala in Hailakandi district,  Husne Ara Begum Choudhury (40) from Lala in Hailakandi, Shankar Paul Choudhury (56) from Tarapur, Silchar, Dilip Roy (70) from Sarat Pally in Silchar and Jiten Kangshabanik (74) from Bilpar, Silchar.
