32 civilians found positive in Cachar without travel history: DC Cachar
July 20: Cachar has a bed strength of 3327 in 98 facility quarantine centres with seven dedicated COVID Health Centres with a bed strength of 650. Under the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP), 10 positive cases and 3,099 negative cases have been detected in the district covering 60 areas. Further, 32 persons (civilians) have been found positive in Cachar without travel history. Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli briefed Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Pijush Hazarika about the COVID-19 situation and the ramping up of health infrastructure through a power point presentation in a review meeting in Silchar on Monday evening.
The meeting was attended, among others, by MP, Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MLAs, SP, senior officials of the district administration and health functionaries. The Minister also visited the SMCH and SM Dev Civil Hospital to take stock of the situation there. He interacted with the officials and health functionaries and directed them to provide the best of medical care and treatment to the COVID-19 patients.
A total of 94 persons tested positive in Cachar district on 20 July. Out of the total of 94 positive patients, 37 of them are from Assam Rifles. Many during the day were detected with Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms. This was confirmed by District Media Expert Suman Choudhury. It needs mention here that 98 persons were tested positive on Sunday in Cachar alone.
