301 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Thursday, 5 deaths at SMCH

June 3: A total of 301 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Thursday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 6,793 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 298 were found positive, whereas 03 others tested positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by DIPRO on Thursday evening. It needs mention here that 317 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Wednesday.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 2 June to 5 PM on 3 June) witnessed demise of 05 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All the 5 deceased are from Cachar district.

The deceased were identified as E Bimal Singha (27) from Lakhipur in Cachar district, Nur Nehar Bibi (60) from Silcoorie in Cachar, Suparna Das (76) from Meherpur, Silchar, Santanu Das (52) from Kanakpur, Silchar and Nakul Sarkar (65) from Ghoniala, Silchar.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 3 June, there were 275 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 87 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 188 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 33 patients were put under ventilator support and 152 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 25 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 46 of them were discharged. Further, 25 of them have opted for home isolation.
