3 new Covid Care Centres comes up in Cachar, DC Jalli goes to oversee preparedness

May 15: The number of Covid cases are increasing rapidly in Cachar district. Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) has to cater to the needs of Covid patients in all the three districts of Barak Valley, which has put too much pressure on the care givers. Keeping this aspect in mind, the Cachar district administration has decided to start three new Covid Care Centres (CCC).

The three new Covid Care Centres which has been prepared in Cachar are:

1. MG Model Hospital at Chutodudpatil
2. Palonghat Model Hospital
3. Chibitabichia Model Hospital

Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli on Saturday went to MG Model Hospital at Chotodudpatil to oversee the preparedness of the Covid Care Centre. 15 oxygen concentrators have been installed there to provide oxygen support to the patients who are mild symptomatic and require minor oxygen support. 110 beds were kept ready which can be extended to 150.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Sumit Sattavan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health), Chandan Kumar- Junior Engineer and Suman Choudhury- District Media Expert among others.

A total of 263 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 5 PM on Saturday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 253 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 10 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday evening.

The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 05 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The 05 deceased were identified as: Rathi Dhar Nandi (55) from Mona Village in Karimganj, Dipak Shill (34) from Durganagar Part V in Cachar, Nilmoni Singh (75) from Kabuganj in Cachar, Ajit Kumar Modak (82) from Rangirkhari in Silchar and Utpal Banerjee (65) from Silchar.
