3 more deaths at SMCH in last 24 hours
August 22: The coronavirus pandemic has now led to a procession of death also in Barak Valley. Though in terms of percentage, this may be very nominal or may be just a number, but for the family members of the deceased, each death means everything for them. Since the last few days, the valley witnessed many deaths, although all of them were not certified as COVID-19 deaths. However, this also cannot be denied that all of them were infected with coronavirus. In the last 24 hours, the Valley witnessed 3 more deaths at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). Out of the three deceased, 2 are from Cachar and 1 from Hailakandi. This was stated by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The 3 deceased were identified as:
- Lucky Begum Laskar (45) from Kathal Road, Silchar was admitted at SMCH at 3.33 PM on 20 August. Apart from being COVID-19 positive, she was also suffering from diabetes, high pressure, and hyper tension. She also suffered a stroke earlier. She was affected with Covid pneumonia. She died at 6 PM on 21 August.
- Bholenath Dusad (63) also from Kathal Road, Silchar was also admitted at 11 AM on 21 August. He died due to COVID-19 on 22 August at 8 AM. He was suffering from diabetes and Covid Pneumonia. His case was certified as COVID-19 death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Pradip Kumar Deb (56) from Hailakandi was admitted at 1.21 AM on 22 August at SMCH. Within a short while, he died at 1.40 AM. He was suffering from diabetes and kidney problems apart from being Covid positive.
