3 more Covid +ve patients die at SMCH on Wednesday

6 in ventilation, 17 in oxygen support out of 23 active cases at SMCH

Jan. 26: There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 25 January to 5 PM on 26 January) witnessed the death of 03 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Wednesday evening.

The deceased were identified as:

  • Ananda Das Baishnab (74) from Kalain in Cachar district tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH at 1.30 PM on 24 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 6.30 AM on 26 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome, uremic encephalopathy & acute kidney injury.
  • Rabi Thapa (48) from Boidura in Dima Hasao district tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH at 4.17 PM on 24 January. The patient passed away at 11 AM on 26 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from hepatic encephalopathy, chronic liver disease &  pneumonia.
  • Nayantara Das (50) from Malini Beel, Tarapur, Silchar was brought to SMCH at 1 PM on 26 January. As per SMCH authorities, the patient was brought dead. The patent was Covid positive and was also suffering from chronic liver disease.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 26 January, there were 23 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 06 patients were put under ventilator support, and 17 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 04 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 05 were discharged. A total of 08 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 10 in RTPCR on Wednesday. Majority of them detected positive on Wednesday opted for home isolation.
