3 more Covid +ve patients die at SMCH in last 24 hours
6 in ventilation, 11 in oxygen support out of 16 active cases at SMCH
Jan. 29: There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 28 January to 5 PM on 29 January) witnessed the death of 03 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as:
- Abdul Rahman Laskar (50) from Rongpur, Silchar tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH on 24 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 3.30 PM on 28 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia.
- Ruksana Begum Laskar (55) from Sonabarighat in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 27 January. The patient died at 7.30 PM on 28 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from uremic encephalopathy & chronic kidney disease.
- Biswajit Tantubai (38) from Dolu Tea Estate in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 28 January (12.55 PM). The patient passed away at 9.30 PM on 28 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome, rheumatic heart disease, narrowing of heart valve & stroke.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 29 January, there were 16 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 06 patients were put under ventilator support, and 11 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 02 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH but none were discharged. A total of 10 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 16 in RTPCR on Saturday. Majority of them detected positive on Saturday opted for home isolation.
