3 more Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College on Monday

91 patients in ICU, 21 in ventilator support & 124 put under oxygen at SMCH

June 14: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 13 June to 5 PM on 14 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the three deceased on Monday, 02 are from Cachar district and 01 from Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as:

  • Bhiru Nath (65) from Chenkuri Kanchanpur in Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 9 June. He, however, passed away at 6 AM on 14 June.
  • BimalKumar Das (75) from Rangirkhari, Silchar took admission in SMCH on 12 June. He breathed his last at 9.30 AM on 14 June.
  • Joy Narayan Satnami (61) from Manipurbazar in Hailakandi district got admitted at SMCH on 06 June. He died at 5 PM on 14 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 14 June, there were 181 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 91 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 90 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 21 patients were put under ventilator support and 124 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 21 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 16 of them were discharged. Further, 21 of them have opted for home isolation.
