3 more Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College on Friday
52 patients in ICU, 11 in ventilator support & 68 put under oxygen at SMCH
July 16: The Covid-19 situation in Cachar is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 15 July to 5 PM on 16 July) witnessed the death of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening. Out of the three deceased, one is from Cachar, 01 from Karimganj and the other from Hailakandi . The deceased were identified as:
- Prabin Dey (63) from Dormikhal at Dholai in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 13 July. The patient, however, passed away at 1.30 AM on 16 July.
- Poritosh Paul (45) from Hailakandi district got admitted at SMCH on 15 July. He expired at 11.30 AM on 16 July.
- Gopal Sena Singha (78) from Dullabhcherra in Karimganj district took admission as SMCH on 6 July. He died at 12.10 PM on 16 July.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 16 July, there were 76 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 52 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 24 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 68 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 11 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 11 of them were discharged.
