3-day national conclave on promoting indigenous knowledge & Gandhian vision from 15-17 March

Feb. 25: Three-day National Conclave will be held online on 15 to 17 March, 2021. The participants will be local artisans from different parts of Barak Valley and resource persons will be experts in the SSI and MSME sectors. The National Conclave has been organised by the Centre for Studies in Human Development (CSHD), Assam University, Silchar in collaboration with Gandhi King Foundation, Hyderabad and Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, Cachar District Committee. The conclave has been divided into two parts:

• National Conference (March 15-16, 2021) on India on the move towards Atmanirbhar Bharat: Revisiting Indigenous knowledge and Gandhian Values.
• Workshop on promoting indigenous arts and crafts of Barak Valley (March 17, 2021).

The objectives of the conference are as follows: 

• To revisit Gandhian vision of a self-reliant, new India, based on indigeneity.
• To document the indigenous knowledge of physical, mental, spiritual, social, cultural, economic and political life prevailing among different communities in different parts of India.
• To create historical/ ethnographical records of traditional structures, contents, approaches, methods, infrastructures and teacher-taught relationships among different communities in India
• To come out with ways that can be used to upgrade the existing indigenous knowledge in sync with modern scientific knowledge
• To understand role of education in promoting intercultural communication among different communities in India
• To throw light on Indian education for resurgence of nationalism.

Sub-themes of the Conference:

1. Gandhian vision and Atmanirbhar Bharat/ self-reliant India
2. Indigenous knowledge systems in India in various sectors
3. Cultural ethos/ traditions in India
4. Different communities in India and reflection on education system
5. Education and inter-cultural communication among communities in India
6. Any topic related to indigenous knowledge in India.

Interested participants may send their abstract within 300 words/or full paper on or before 8 March, 2021 along with personal details through email: eshdaus@gmail.com. Selected abstracts/ papers will be communicated to the presenters by 10 March, 2021. There will be no registration fee and certificates to successful participants will be provided.
