3 Covid-19 patients including 2 from Silchar town die at SMCH in last 24 hours

88 patients in ICU, 28 in ventilator support & 132 put under oxygen at SMCH

June 4: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 3 June to 5 PM on 4 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All the 3 deceased are from Cachar district. The deceased were identified as:

  • Monoranjan Paul Purkayastha (85) from Public School Road, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 31 May. He, however, passed away at 9.40 PM on 3 June.
  • Dhirendra Deb (61) from Kumarpara in Cachar took admission at SMCH on 2 June. He breathed his last 10.30 PM on 3 June.
  • KK Debdas Singha (76) from Shib Bari Road, Tarapur in Silchar got admitted at SMCH on 29 May. He expired at 5.40 AM on 4 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 4 June, there were 263 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 88 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 175 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 28 patients were put under ventilator support and 132 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 36 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 38 of them were discharged. Further, 28 of them have opted for home isolation.
