3 Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours
96 patients in ICU, 25 in ventilator support & 173 put under oxygen at SMCH
June 1: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 31 May to 5 PM on 1 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All three deceased are from Cachar district. The deceased were identified as:
- Abdul Mannan Sodial (55) from Madhurband, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 29 May. He, however, passed away at 5.10 PM on 31 May.
- Manik Chandra Deb (75) from Azad Hind Road, Silchar took admission at SMCH on 29 May. He breathed his last 6.30 PM on 31 May.
- Rohit Bhar (65) from Durgakona, Cachar got admitted at SMCH on 30 May. He expired at 2.40 PM on 1 June.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 1 June, there were 309 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 96 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 213 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 25 patients were put under ventilator support and 173 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 50 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 39 of them were discharged. Further, 42 of them have opted for home isolation.
