29,701 teachers working under SSA to retire now at 60

June 7: The Government of Assam has decided to offer regular pay scale along with all other benefits including service upto 60 years to 29,701 teachers working under SSA. This was declared by State Education Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing at Guwahati on Sunday. The minister further stated that these teachers will receive DA allowances and annual increaments like the state government teachers.They can also avail casual leaves, sick leaves, maternity leaves etc like any regular state government teacher. These teachers can also apply for bank loans.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also informed that 11, 260 State Pool teachers working under SSA with fixed salary, and 5243 contractual teachers working in various high schools will draw equivalent pay, service tenure and leave enhancement at par with their counterparts in state government.
