295 persons test Covid-19 +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Thursday, 3 deaths at SMCH

May 20: A total of 295 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Thursday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 278 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 17 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Thursday evening. It needs mention here that on Wednesday, 465 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. Thursday witnessed demise of 03 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. All the three deceased are from Cachar district.
The deceased were identified as: Rupak Paul (36) from Masimpur, Cachar, Krishna Kanu (64) from Derby in Cachar and Jahan Ahmed Laskar (46) from Masimpur, Cachar.
