28 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Monday, 1 death at SMCH
Aug 2: A total of 28 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Monday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 9,386 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which all 27 were found positive, whereas 01 person was detected positive in RT-PCR test. It needs mention here that 26 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Sunday.
The Covid-19 situation is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 1 August to 5 PM on 2 August) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Monday evening. The deceased was identified as:
- Rashik Uddin Barbhuiya (50) from Kashipur in Cachar district took admission at SMCH on 29 July. The patient, however, breathed his last at 5.30 AM on 2 August.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 2 August, there were 57 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 30 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 27 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 4 patients were put under ventilator support and 38 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 13 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 13 of them were discharged.
