268 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Friday, 3 deaths at SMCH

June 4: A total of 268 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Friday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 8,852 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 261 were found positive, whereas 07 others tested positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by DIPRO on Friday evening. It needs mention here that 358 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Thursday.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 3 June to 5 PM on 4 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All the 3 deceased are from Cachar district.

The deceased were identified as Monoranjan Paul Purkayastha (85) from Public School Road, Silchar,  Dhirendra Deb (61) from Kumarpara in Cachar and KK Debdas Singha (76) from Shib Bari Road, Tarapur in Silchar.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 4 June, there were 263 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 88 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 175 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 28 patients were put under ventilator support and 132 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 36 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 38 of them were discharged. Further, 28 of them have opted for home isolation.
