2534 tests +ve in Assam on Tuesday including 244 from Cachar, tally rises to 82,201
Active Cases 25,261 in Assam
August 18: On Tuesday, 2534 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus cases in the state has gone upto 82,201, out of which, 25,261 are active cases. In a tweet, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ 2534 #COVID cases detected today out of 44416 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 5.7% Kamrup (M)- 498, Dibrugarh- 267, Cachar- 244, Kamrup (R)- 145.”
Further, another six persons died due to COVID-19 in Assam. The deceased were identified as Sunandaram Deka (69), Bikrant Singh Chetri (31) of Kamrup Rural; Gour Gopal Biswas (72) of Kamrup Metro; Saif Uddin (39) of Karimganj; Subhash Chandra Acharjee (75) & Pradip Kumar Singha (55) of Cachar. With this, Assam registered 203 total deaths due to COVID-19.
